Occupy Newark Gets Boot

Protesters living in a downtown park in Newark, N.J., for nearly two months have been instructed to clear out on Thursday, a move that could end one of the few remaining Occupy Wall Street encampments in the U.S.

Unlike most of the camps elsewhere, activists in Newark had received permission from local lawmakers to live inside Military Park. But a letter delivered Tuesday warned protesters that the arrangement would come to an end.

“[Y]our organization will be required to remove all individuals and equipment,” said the letter from City Clerk Robert Marasco, which set a deadline of 9 p.m. Thursday. …
